Our branch is located in the heart of Luton, just off the M1 motorway, at the following address: Unit 9a Finway, Dallow Road, Luton, LU1 1TR. Our normal opening hours are 7.00am- 5.30pm Monday-Friday, but we offer an out-of-hours service to our customers if required.

To offer our customers the greatest choice and quality, we stock products from leading manufacturers, including Schneider Electric, Eaton MEM, MK, BG Electrical and ABB, as well as Schneider Cable Management systems. We also offer the full Envirovent ventilation range, covering residential solutions through to full commercial and industrial applications.

Amble’s warehouse holds approximately £130,000 worth of stock. We are also partnered with ElectraCentre Distribution, which is akin to having an extra 10,000 sq. feet of warehouse space and holding another £500,000 worth of stock, reducing delivery lead-time, and avoiding problems with minimum order quantities direct from manufacturers, meaning that Amble can take advantage of bulk prices and pass savings to the customer as well as having greater control over stock levels.

Amble boasts a team of very experienced sales staff led by Directors Mark and Susan Yearnshire and Operations Manager Paul Soper, who have a combined experience of nearly 90 years in electrical distribution.

At Amble, we pride ourselves in being ‘switched on for service’. That means delivering quality products and customer care, adapting to an ever-changing market and providing a solution for every type of customer.

Most of our products are delivered the same or next day via our own vehicles or via courier. Customers are also able to call and collect.

Amble are a proudly independent SME, who have successfully demonstrated that we can compete against the large nationals, with the advantage of being able to adapt to the needs and demands of complicated contracts and projects. Since our winning ‘Best Individual Branch’ in the EW Awards 2016 and 2017, as well as Wholesaler of the Year at the 2017 Electrical industry Awards, Amble has continued to strive for quality.

Amble continue to attain BS EN ISO9001:2015 accreditation. This ensures we maintain high standards of quality throughout the branch and provide our customers with consistently high levels of service.
We have won a number of contract tenders for public and private sector organizations, including the NHS, local councils, the higher education sector, and others.

Recently, Amble supported the University of Birmingham in providing LED replacements for their Medical School. The fittings were specific to the requirement of the university, and were supplied with a specially made bezel fitting to adapt to the existing fitting holes. The LED lighting solution delivered an energy saving in excess of 50%, and Amble also provided a £23,600 saving on the fittings against the specified product quotation. This project was featured as a case study in the printed and online edition of Linked magazine.

We have also innovated a number of cost-saving initiatives exclusively for our customers:

• Designing ‘rewire’, ‘kitchen’ and ‘bathroom’ kits with re-usable containers. These were designed to fit customer requirements, saving time in the order process and delivery/collection stage, and reducing packaging.
• An “open invoice” system for public and private sector customers where all purchase orders each week are added to one weekly consolidated electronic invoice, saving processing time and paper.
• Simple options to pay for goods using purchasing cards with detailed VAT receipts
• A fast-track ‘sign and go’ collection service where paperwork is kept at a minimum. Combined with pre-arranged ordering, this can significantly reduce waiting times at the collection point.
• A free lamp and tube recycling centre at our branch. We also offer a free collection service whereby we can collect waste lamps and tubes from any site the customer requires.
• We are able to provide a detailed cost-saving analysis and plan for customers, which details how much they or their business could save by switching to LED lighting. This includes energy saving calculations and time taken to achieve full payback from their initial investment.

Amble has a completely refurbished trade counter, including a brand new lighting showroom opened in 2018, with new artwork and point-of-sale displays. This has resulted in positive feedback from customers and has been featured in the media and on social media.

Amble have launched marketing campaigns for several new products in the past year. These include the innovative Cable Companion, new BG Wi-fi booster sockets, and promotions on LED bulkheads, LED panels, panels, and consumer unit bundles as well as other products.

In our 2018 ‘Vantastic’ promotion one of our customers won a brand new Citroen Berlingo van, read-branded with their logos. These campaigns were also marketed extensively on social media and on trade counter posters and point-of-sale displays.

In the past year we continued to provide local school students with work experience, including those with special needs.

Customers were invited to a series of free breakfast mornings to introduce them to new products and keep them up-to-date with regulations. Amble offers NICEIC and ELECSA products and services including arranging training courses for customers.

Amble have also been involved in supporting the local community, sponsoring the Luton Excellence Awards and a local youth football team, Luton Nations CFC, a partnership which has enabled grassroots football in an area where previously there was no such provision. This football team was able to recently meet England boss Gareth Southgate in a very special training day.

2018 saw our revamped website (www.ambleelectrical.co.uk) broaden its the range of products offered, with thousands of product lines now available to purchase online with next-day delivery. Amble’s online store also also offers free delivery on orders over £50 as well as a free click-and-collect service.
